Walking With George Wearing My Hotter Boots
My regular readers will know that my dog George and I LOVE being outdoors together. There is nothing healthier than spending time in nature with my beloved faithful friend. We go out in all weathers as I know it is good for my physical AND mental health. The good news is that you don’t need a dog to go walking. All you need is a good pair of comfortable boots, suitable clothing (depending on the weather) and that’s it!
I live in North Yorkshire and so I am spoilt for walks. We have rolling, undulating hills, rugged moorland with acres of gentle countryside slotted in between. Wherever you live though, you can always find places to walk, to stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh air. If my mood is low I always find that a brisk walk really improves my mental health and life seems somehow brighter when I have been for a walk.
So in this post I am reviewing a pair of walking, leisure boots kindly supplied to me by Hotter Shoes. As many of you know from previous blogs I have ‘odd’ feet. A few years ago I had a serious accident roller skating and badly broke my ankle and lower leg in three places. After a lengthy three hour operation and an unlimited amount of titanium and metal pins, I found myself with a very ‘awkward’ left leg.
Since my accident I have struggled with shoes fitting correctly and more importantly, feeling comfortable. Walking boots are my biggest problem as they naturally sit high on my foot, wrapping around my ankle. Because of the location of the metal plate in my ankle, this can be quite uncomfortable, especially wearing boots for a long period of time. I cannot tell you how many boots I have bought and abandoned after just a few hours wear. I was getting that desperate that I actually investigated the idea of having boots custom made, that is, until I saw the price.
So when Hotter Shoes contacted me about trying their Rutland GTX walking boots I jumped at the chance. After all, walking with George is really important to me and I need sturdy boots that will protect my feet, but also are comfortable to wear. I also want boots that look fashionable and suit my frame. I am only small and some of the walking boots on offer can make me look like I am wearing clown’s shoes. And no girl wants to wear clown’s shoes. Am I right?
Well these stunning boots from Hotter looked amazing and felt amazing on first initial wear but would they pass the strict ‘Susanna’s bad leg’ test? Here are my honest views after two months of constant wear.
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I have finally found a walking boot that fits me perfectly, looks stylish, will go with any outfit and most importantly, feel comfortable. These boots feel like slippers on my feet and I don’t use that term loosely. With a heavy metal constructed lower leg I am honestly astounded that a boot can feel SO good on my foot. I have had Hotter shoes before and always been a great fan, but I was honestly apprehensive about these boots due to my previous experiences with other brands.
I actually look forward to wearing these boots and it has encouraged me to do longer walks with George due to the comfort. Long walks are surely the test of good footwear and even after a few hours of walking, these boots were still as comfortable as the moment I put them on. So, my search for the perfect walking boot is over and I am thankful for that, as my daily walks play such a big part in my overall health and well being.
I cannot recommend these boots enough, so if you are on the look out for stylish and extremely comfortable boots, then look no further. What I really love about these boots is that they look just as good when I am wearing a skirt or dress. I love this boho chic style which means I get more wear out of them.
I hope you enjoyed this review of Hotter boots, not to mention the photos of George. If you would like to ask me any questions about the boots then please message me.
Do you have any problems with shoes fitting poorly? Do you find, like I did, stylish and comfortable walking boots are difficult to find?
