Spa Time At The David Lloyd Club, Harrogate.

11th November 2018

Who doesn’t enjoy some pampering and relaxation time in a spa? Even my husband enjoys spa days (although he was a little reluctant to start with!) For me personally, spending quality time in a spa where I can truly relax is becoming more important as I get older. I now value relaxation time more than anything else, as I really do appreciate how important it is for my mental and physical well being. As we all are living more busy and stressful lives, what better way is there to relax, than spending a few hours in a spa away from all our worries and commitments.

And so I thought I would share with you, my visit to the beautiful spa at the David Lloyd Club in Harrogate. As you know I am a member of this amazing gym and I have long advocated the facilities there as being the best I have ever used. I have to admit, I have walked past the Spa in the Club many times, just glancing in. but never actually venturing inside. I guess I am always too busy at my various classes to stop and think about what lies behind those inviting Spa doors. Well, after a very stressful few weeks and a recent illness, I decided to take positive steps and have a look at what they had to offer.

On entering the Spa I immediately noticed a sense of calm and tranquility, a world away from the busy gym that I had left just a few minutes earlier. I was greeted by a lovely, friendly member of staff who chatted with me about the treatments on offer and showed me around the reception area and retail shop. The shop stocks many of the leading products such as Murad, AromaWorks, Espa, Jessica and my absolute favourite, Elemis. There is a fabulous extensive range of individual products, but there are also a wonderful selection of gifts, for both men and women.

The Spa offer a huge range of treatments and there really is something for everyone, from facials to body massages and from manicures to spray tans ! There is even a selection of treatments for men. My favourite go to treatment is a facial followed by a back, neck and shoulder massage. Yes, we all think of facials as being good for our skin, but I also find them so relaxing as I seem to hold a lot of tension in my face. The back, neck and shoulder massage is amazing for de-stressing and easing out all those aches and pains that seem to affect us all, regardless of age or fitness. Most of us use a computer and it is a proven fact that sitting staring at a screen every day can have an averse affect on our back, neck and shoulders.

As we approach Christmas and the party season, it is the ideal time to look at preparing ourselves for all those functions and family get togethers! As for me, my eldest daughter is getting married at Christmas, so I need to start planning my treatments. And yes, that will include a massage to help me relax just before the big day as I know I will be feeling a little stressed!

The Spa at the David Lloyd Club in Harrogate have some amazing offers on right now to help you get ready for Christmas. I have posted the latest offers below, but please ring the Spa for further help so they can give you the most current information. Personally I feel like I might go for the Decadent Diva offer !

Continuing my tour at the Spa at the David Lloyd Club, I was genuinely amazed at the stunning surroundings that formed the Spa area. The treatment rooms were elegantly decorated with low level lighting all adding to the peace and tranquility. A relaxation room was kitted out in loungers with snuggly blankets and magazines where spa customers can relax before and after their treatment. I LOVE this idea as it really helps to extend the relaxation process. Just to be able to fully rest and unwind without interruption, is a luxury most of us only dream about. So my advice is to take a book with you and make the most of the time away from your normal, every day life.

In keeping with the holistic spa experience the Spa offers other treatments such as stress management, mindfulness, CBT, acupuncture, physiotherapy, sports massage, Indian head massage and many more.

For those of you interested in beauty treatments, the Spa offers a wide range of treatments including eyelash / brow tints, eyelash extensions, manicures and pedicures (including gels) and wax hair removal. Hot stone massages and body wraps are also offered and the Elemis body treatments are just wonderful for a true spa experience.

So, the big question is … you have to be members of the Club to experience this wonderful Spa? ABSOLUTELY NOT ! Anyone (over the age of 16) can book a treatment. Simply call the club and ask for the Spa and speak to one of the wonderful Spa staff who will help you choose the right treatment for you. Or, as Christmas is fast arriving, why not buy a gift voucher for a friend or family member to spend as they wish. I love receiving gift vouchers as I can choose the best treatment or product for me at a suitable time. Currently there is a free £5 voucher with any £100 voucher purchased – offer available until 30 November 2018. The retail shop also stocks some fabulous gift ideas for men and women, all in beautiful gift boxes.

Vouchers are a perfect gift.

It makes a great stay at any time of any year, but yes, I agree. There is something so romantic and comforting about staying in a country pub with log fires while its freezing cold outside. x
