Blogging From The Heart – My First Blog Post
Hi everyone and welcome to my new blog.
I have been writing for many many years in the form of short stories, poems, magazine articles and am currently trying to finish a murder mystery novel. The bottom line is…..I LOVE writing. I love to get my innermost feelings down on paper in black and white. I love to share my experiences of life, good and bad. I love to encourage others to write and to share their life too.
I feel that the world is a much better place if we all live, learn and share together. I enjoy reading other blogs about so many different topics and I have learnt so much from online bloggers. I am 53 years old and the world is such a smaller place now than when I was in my twenties due to the development of online social media. Love it or hate it, social media is here to stay and we must all learn to embrace it and work with it.
I feel lives have improved due to the internet and the world wide web. Think how important the internet is in terms of medical information and how that has helped so many people affected by medical issues. Of course the internet can also become a problem when we are ill. Come on! Hands up all those who have used Dr Google to diagnose your mysterious symptoms. Oh yes! That would be me.
So why do so many people write blogs nowadays? Is it because we are nosey wanting to see an insight into some strangers life? Or are we looking for something to fulfil a missing gap in our lives? I read a lot of blogs which do product reviews so I can get an insight on a product before I buy it. What a great idea. We can get an independent review without prejudice, therefore saving us money and time.
I love reading blogs about peoples lives, their holidays, meals they have eaten, the pets they care for and the clothes they wear. It can sometimes feel a bit ‘stalker-ish’ but that’s the world we live in now. I think of the blogging world as one big community and I have certainly made some lovely online friends in various countries.
The majority of bloggers seem to be under thirty and I have learnt so much from these wonderful people who are full of enthusiasm and a willingness to help other new bloggers. However I do feel there is a need for bloggers who are in the ‘older generation’. Oh yes, I’m meaning me here. A recent survey stated that after the 15-25 year old, the age group 50+ was the next most common watchers of You Tube and blog subscribers. Perhaps us ‘oldies’ are catching up with the younger generation in our thirst for information in live time.
Has the tradition of visiting the local library for reference books, lifestyle books and biographies really come to an end? I hope not, as I love the idea of libraries been the centre of a community and it is a great place for different community groups to meet.
I hope you will keep returning to my blog as I have great plans for so many different interesting topics and plenty of honest product reviews. I do plan to tackle some difficult subjects such as mental health, but I feel it’s so important to discuss these topics openly to help remove the unnecessary stigma that many sufferers face on a day to day basis. And yes, I suffer from anxiety, panic attacks and depression myself. And you know what? That’s the first time I’ve ever admitted it openly and publicly. Wow!
Thank you for reading my first post of my new blog. I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by and read my ramblings. Come back soon !
Lots of love
