The Classic Dress is one of those staple wardrobe pieces that we all have in our wardrobe. It’s the one dress that we reach for time after time, regardless of the season, year or occasion. It’s our ‘go to’ dress. The one when we don’t know what to wear, so we grab THE dress and we just know that we will feel comfortable and suitably attired for the occasion. ( You know the one I mean ladies ?)
The classic dress is also usually our investment piece, so, while we might think about buying an on trend fashion item that is cheap as chips, we know that this inexpensive fashion item will probably end up in the bin after six months of wear.
I have a classic dress in my wardrobe that cost me £100 a few years ago and I remember thinking it seemed a lot of money back then. However this classic style simple dress still looks like new and feels like new, and, because of its classic design, it never seems to date. As it has full sleeves and is below my knee it will also stand the test of time as I get older and require more coverage ( if you know what I mean !)
And so, today, I thought I would feature a fabulous British company who specialise in classic dresses for women. David Nieper is a British designer based in Derbyshire who designs and makes beautiful, high quality clothes using the best fabrics that are sourced from around the world. In fact, it is this beautiful, high quality fabric that ensures that the company has a huge following of loyal customers. In house precision cutting and professional sewing teams ensure that each garment is finished perfectly before been shipped to the customer. The company founded in 1961, is totally committed to UK manufacturing which is great news for the UK economy with two thirds of its customers based in the UK and a third located overseas.
David Nieper is a true family business with the founder David still in place as Creative Director and his son Christopher holding the Managing Director role. I also really love the fact that the company work closely with schools, collages and universities to ensure that sewing skills are been passed onto future generations. The company even sponsor a local school and is committed to helping and inspiring young people. I just love this type of investment back into the community as it says a lot about a company who do this.
The customer service representatives at David Nieper are specially trained to make sure that your buying experience is smooth and of a high standard, and the fact that it is a family business is reflected in the customer service that you will receive. The best thing about ordering an item from the company is that you will receive a personally signed ticket from the seamstress who made your garment ! How amazing is that ? It’s almost like a confirmation of how proud they are to have made your item for you, and how confident they are of their work.
So after a little background on the company, would you like to see a selection of my favourite classic style dresses from their website ? Most of the dresses are available in size 10 – 24 and some even have varying lengths you can choose from. All of my choices can be found on their website http://www.davidnieper.co.uk
I hope you have enjoyed my little blog post about this fabulous British company David Nieper. It is too easy to overlook our own British companies when faced with so much choice on the high street and online. Buying from British companies is not only good for local employment, but is also good for the economy and it also gives the customer a ‘feel good’ feeling knowing they have bought from a family business.
Until next time dear friends
