‘The Yorkshire Soap Company is opening in Knaresborough’ This statement was music to my ears as an obsessive lover of all cute, gorgeous smelling bath and body products and a resident of Knaresborough. My husband however, became slightly edgy at this news, probably due to the fact that his credit card would be taking a massive hit every month, not to mention the overflowing bathroom drawers. I am still trying to convince him that Radox just doesn’t have the same effect for me, but that’s a battle for another day.
The Yorkshire Soap Company was started in 2004 by two Yorkshire guys who started creating soaps around their kitchen table as gifts from family and friends. And the rest is history. With shops now in Hebden Bridge, Leeds, York, Beverley and Knaresborough, the company pride themselves on high quality, imaginative products and excellent customer service. I have previously visited the York store and was always amazed at the stunning store decor and the gorgeous selection of bath and beauty products.
So The Yorkshire Soap Company arrived in Knaresborough last week and is situated on Castlegate right in the centre of town. If you are new to Knaresborough it is very easy to find with plenty of car parking nearby.
The shop itself has a beautiful frontage and gorgeous window display with a candy pink sign above the door. What’s not to like about a pink sign ?
On entering the shop you are hit by the gorgeous aroma of flowers and sweet fragrances that just draw you in even more. And no, the fragrance was not overpowering at all. It was just right. If I said I felt like a kid in a sweet shop, then that would be an accurate description. I stood at the door just taking it all in, not sure where to go first as the display stands looked AMAZING. I was welcomed by a lovely member of staff who was smiley, friendly and helpful without been too overbearing.
I did a quick sweep of the store then returned to the beginning for a proper look at everything, while silently clocking up my future purchases.
This section contained all the body care such as shampoos, body lotion and bath salts. I especially liked the range called ‘Yorkshire Lad’ which was perfectly packaged in a neutral colour scheme. The fragrance of ‘Yorkshire Lad’ incorporated zesty lemon, bergamot and oud wood which was a woody scent but with a fresh overtone. Something I definitely will be buying for my Radox loving husband !
Lying close to the most sparkly chandelier ever was a gorgeous collection of candles, reed diffusers and even refills for your diffusers which is a fantastic idea. I loved the selection of travel candles as I like to take a candle away with me when I’m travelling. The travel candles were presented in a gorgeous tin in a lovely variety of fragrances. For £6.95 for over 20 hours burning time I thought these were great value and I will definitely be buying them for my trips away.
And then I moved onto the bath goodies. I will admit it now. This is my addiction. I cannot fail to be moved by the pastel colours, the glitter, the fragrance and the cute little flowers and sprinkles that go into making a bath bomb, creamers and bath truffles.
And of course there are the wonderful soaps that were the basic product that started the company all those years ago. There is a huge variety of soaps including botanical soaps, soap cake slices, cupcake soaps, artisan soaps and even flower pot soaps that actually look like a little flower pot. I loved this Happy Birthday Cupcake Soap which would be a perfect gift for someone and priced at just £5.00 too !
For myself I bought some bath creamers and truffles which were packaged up beautifully in a lovely pink gift box for only an extra 50p. I have already tried them and they were all SO nice leaving my skin all silky, smooth and smelling lovely. I did hide them from all the other members of my family ! Is that wrong ? Or should I have shared ? 😉
I’m sure you can already tell from my review that I LOVE the new Yorkshire Soap Company shop in Knaresborough. I love the shop decor, the products, the price point and the staff were also lovely. Although I love the products personally, I also will definitely buy for gifts for both men and women and for all occasions from weddings to birthdays. With the super gorgeous packaging it makes buying gifts easy while still maintaining the luxury feel.
I think the shop will do very well in Knaresborough as it is essentially a traditional, historic market town which attracts a lot of tourists, although I can see it been a popular haunt of many locals too, me included ! The excellent price points mean that the younger end of the community can also afford to buy a little luxury for their friends and family and I can see many mothers in Knaresborough receiving these gorgeous pink striped boxes next Mother’s Day. Hint hint….to my daughters !
If you are reading this and you don’t get the chance to visit any of the stores then the company have a lovely, easy to use website which I have used before. There is even free UK delivery if you spend over £30.
I would love to hear your comments about The Yorkshire Soap Company. What are your experiences ? Do you think I’m mean keeping my bath goodies all to myself ? Have you visited any of the other stores ? Let me know in the comments below.
Until next time. Take care and lots of love
