I thought I would post a review of this styling brush that I recently purchased. I have the most unruly hair ever ! It doesn’t matter how long or short it is, it just has a mind of its own causing me more hair issue days than I care to remember.
However I LOVE my hair. Its thick, naturally curly and in general good condition. Although, since entering the menopause a year ago it has become quite dry but this is easily remedied by using hair treatment packs.
I have a whole drawer full of styling products and tools. I’m sure you can visualise this drawer ladies. I mean, don’t we all have one ? I have GHD’s (two of), curling tongs ( various ) and various heated rollers and sponge rollers to try tame my curls.
However these all take time to achieve that style that I’m looking for and let’s face it girls, sometimes we just don’t have a lot of time whether we are getting the kids ready for school or we are dashing to work.
I came across this Babyliss Styling Hot Brush while watching QVC a month ago and thought I would try it. I was looking for a styling tool that would do the job and importantly work quickly.
So the boring technical bits first. This styling brush has a 50mm ceramic barrel with titanium coating and advanced ionic technology. The ionic technology is designed to smooth the hair cuticle, resulting in hair that’s shiny, manageable, flyaway – free and frizz free.
It is ideal if you have flat hair after washing it as you can use it to lift the roots giving lots more volume unlike straighteners which traditionally flatten the hair even more.
The styling brush has to be used on dry hair only and the advanced ceramics give an ultra fast heat up time which remains constant during use. The temperature can be set anywhere between 160 degrees and 200 degrees. For this review I used the lowest setting at 160 degrees.
The brush has a useful auto shut off, great for those of us who are a bit forgetful and tend to leave appliances switched on ! It also has a swivel cord which is a must nowadays, so we are not grappling with a tangled cord as we try style our hair.
So what did I think to this styling brush ? Well, I used it a day after washing my hair and without any previous styling. I also used no styling products such as mousse, de frizz etc. As you can see my hair was looking a little Crystal Tipps ! If you are my age you will know who Crystal Tipps is, otherwise please google it and please don’t start calling me Crystal. I had that at school. 😉
I set the styling brush at 160 degrees although I thought I would have to increase this heat given the thickness of my hair. However I found this temperature worked perfectly fine with my hair but you can adjust the heat quite easily to suit.
I used a bulldog clip to tie up the top section of my hair as my hair is very thick and I styled the undersection first. This literally took a couple of minutes and in less than 5 minutes I had done half of my hair and styled it into a no frizz, straight style with volume.
I repeated this on the other side and in no time at all my hair was looking more styled and ready to face the world. The styling took less than ten minutes and I would imagine once you get used to handling the brush you can get this time down to around five minutes. Obviously this depends on your hair thickness and length.
I would absolutely recommend this styling brush to anyone who finds they need to style their hair quickly. For me it certainly did the job required in a short time but also created a shine on my hair ( sorry this is not obvious from the photos).
The best thing about this styling brush is the amazing price ! I bought this from http://www.qvcuk.com for £61 plus £5.95 postage which is great value considering I bought my last set of GHD’s for £130. And of course the great thing about buying from QVC is that you have 28 days to try a product and if you don’t like it for any reason you can return it for a full refund. I don’t know of any other shops that allow you to do that !
I hope you enjoyed this review and if you have any questions about this product please leave in the comments or email me.
Have a great day and see you soon.
Love Susanna x
