Wellness Retreat Day – Harrogate

Wellness Retreat Day sounds just heavenly. A full day of relaxation and time away from work or the kids is something we all need once in a while. It is vital to our overall physical and mental health that we spend time away from ‘real life’, from the stresses and problems that we have to confront daily. In time this stress can start to have a negative effect on our physical and mental wellbeing. This, in time can create health problems that can seriously be detrimental to us.

So, with this in mind the wonderful folk at David Lloyd Club in Harrogate have come up with this fabulous idea of a Wellness Retreat Day, so you can REALLY relax and wind down. We can all take perhaps an hour out of our day to try and relax through meditation or exercise but how many of us actually take a whole day? In a day you can truly refresh and rejuvenate your body and mind and the after effects will be amazing. So what have David Lloyd Club in Harrogate got planned for this very special day which takes place on Wednesday 28th August 2019? Well, on your retreat day you will be experiencing different forms of yoga, meditation, sound bath and PiYo. Some of these activities you will already be familiar with, such as Yoga and meditation. But I can imagine some of you are thinking, what is a sound bath and what is PiYo? So let me give you brief details of each and how it can benefit you.

 

Yoga of course is well known for helping improve your mind and body. It is an ancient form of exercise that focuses primarily on breathing techniques, flexibility and strength. Yoga is a very gentle form of exercise. It is therefore excellent for all ages or for those returning to exercise after a break.

Meditation is also an ancient practice where a person relaxes totally by focusing on a thought or object in order to obtain a deep relaxation. Meditation is easy to do and can be achieved within a short space of time. It is useful to go to a meditation class to learn how to meditate effectively.

Sound Bath is another relaxation technique that helps people truly relax as a form of meditation. Sounds from singing or crystal bowls, gongs or other instruments help the individual relax and enter meditation easier. Sound baths induce a wonderful feeling of peace and a great way to ease tension. I enjoy sound bathing and find the whole process very soothing to a tired mind.

PiYo is a relaxing exercise technique that incorporates Yoga and Pilates. These two activities often overlap so it is a natural move into PiYo. PiYo is a low impact activity that will help with flexibility, core strength and relaxation.

All these activities make up a fabulous Wellness Retreat Day. I guarantee you will feel like a new person at the end of the day, ready for whatever life throws at you. There is also a fabulous lunch included in the price of the Retreat Day which makes the event great value for money. The price of the full day is £50 for members and £65 for non members and this includes lunch.
